JIAWEI YU

Jiawei Yu is a Chinese designer with a background in Product design and Industrial design. During his bachelor’s studies, he has won many awards in international design competitions and accumulated a lot of knowledge about design theory.  He maintains the design spirit of persistence, independence, and awe to break through himself at the postgraduate. It improves his design level and also sustains his creative passion. At Central Saint Martins, he believes that design transforms the future so that he keeps exploring new design methods, enhances the ability of design narrative and never limits his design boundaries. The designs include from concept design to product manufacture. What’s more, his projects cover several topics like electronic product design, interactive devices, sustainability, traditional culture, etc.

Lucas Fois

We met at Ningbo International Industrial Design week in 2018. He took part in my Toy Design Workshop, with the theme of “Deign before design”. Yu Jiawei as a leader to explain the whole plan of their project to my satisfaction, so I awarded the Innovation Design Award to their team. Later, Yu Jiawei also showed me his previous children's design work, an environmental education product for children. I also think this is a good design, and very meaningful.

Zhao Jianguo

Jiawei is a hardworking and conscientious student. I witnessed his excellent performance in classes. He always prepared for classes in advance and put forward his distinctive opinions actively. He was not familiar with the complex procedure of product design at first. With all his efforts, he developed his own understanding about this subject afterwards. Also, he always put forwards topics and participated in group discussions. Moreover, he participated in many competitions as the leader. With his outstanding design thoughts, he won lots of awards during these years.
